At the time of its release, the Mark VIII was positioned to be Lincoln's flagship model. To support this, Lincoln spent millions of dollars during the 1993 model year to promote its newest automobile. Advertisements appeared in print magazines and on television. After the initial blitz during the 1993 year, Lincoln spent very little money promoting the Mark VIII, producing just a few 1994 advertisements. In 1995, a small tie-in with the new-for-1995 Continental's InTech engine management system was the only Mark VIII ad. The 1996 model year included one new ad, and a bunch of new ads were created for the major restyle of 1997.
